Newbie Robert Sarvida rules SUGBU’s Aug. 27 bowling shoutout
CEBU CITY, Philippines — New member Robert Sarvida introduced himself to the Sugbuanon Bowlers United (SUGBU) with an impressive victory in the SUGBU Bowling Shootout Tournament on Sunday, August 27, 2023.
Sarvida, a Filipino-American who recently joined SUGBU, finished the four-game tournament with 760 pinfalls. His total scratch was 680 pinfalls, but his 20 handicap points were a huge difference to put him on top of the tournament held at the SM Seaside City Cebu Bowling Center.
He scored 183 pinfalls in the final round, which was his best game. The victory also secured Sarvida a slot in SUGBU’s “Bowler of the Month” tournament.
Senior bowler Manny Bueno clinched the No. 2 spot with 758 pinfalls, while fellow senior bowler Chris Ramil rounded off the top three keglers with 744 pinfalls.
“Bowler of the Month” champion Luke Bolongan finished fourth with 740 pinfalls, followed by Tony Calo in fifth place with 738 pinfalls.
The sixth to 10th placers of the SUGBU Bowling Shootout Tournament were MJ Villa (731), Tessie Dante (718), Dory Enoveso (718), Marvin Sevilla (717), and Rene Ceniza (710), respectively. / dcb
