CEBU CITY, Philippines — Two of the University of Cebu (UC) high school basketball teams each earned convincing wins in the Cebu School Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) junior division cage wars on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Cebu Coliseum.
Both the UC Baby Webmasters and UCLM Webmasters trounced their respective foes, improving their win-loss records to 2-0 in the high school division.
The Baby Webmasters of head coach Joever Samonte logged their second straight win with a 28-point blowout win over the University of San Carlos ( USC) Warriors, 65-37.
The UCLM Webmasters also edged the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons, 69-54, as the latter absorbed their first loss in three games.
Lourdonnie Cuyos and Lord Bryan Tiñajora fired on all cylinders after dropping 14 points apiece to lead the Baby Webmasters.
Gemini Abellana Jr. and Johncel Borjal combined for 16 points for UC.
Neil Ibarita had 11 markers and Laurence Oclarit tallied 10 points for the Baby Warriors.
Meanwhile, four players of the UCLM Webmasters of head coach Caleb Gawangan recorded double-digit scores in their win over CEC.
Kian Luchavez paced UCLM with a remarkable 24-point outing, while Kyle Dela Torre chipped in 15 points. Revo Lao contributed 12 markers and Geo Rey Lumagod had 11 for UCLM.
Caelan Mack spoiled his 19-point game for the Dragons, so as Lybron James Lamo’s 11 points. / dcb
