Cesafi: Green Lancers eye 2nd win vs Wildcats
CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) men’s basketball defending champions, the University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers, eye win No. 2 against the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats during their game on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Cebu Coliseum.
The defending champions started off their title-retention bid with a hard-earned 59-56 win against the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Fighting Maroons last September 30.
This time, they will take on the Wildcats which has been bogged down with back-to-back losses since the start of their campaign.
The tip off starts at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
It’s best remembered that the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters dominated the Wildcats in a 74-blowout win, 109-35, last September 30. It was followed by a defeat in the hands of the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors 67-78, last October 3.
The Green Lancers will likely field in the same starting five comprised of Jimpaul Amistoso, Ivo Salarda, Raul Gentallan, Froiland Maglasang, and Ivan Alsola.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats will have to heavily rely on their primary scorers and forward Josiah Villamayor and Clark Adrian Con-Ui.
Aside from UV and CIT-U’s game, three other basketball matches will be featured at the Cebu Coliseum on Saturday.
At 12 noon, UC Baby Webmasters will face the USC Baby Warriors, followed by UC Lapu-Lapu Mandaue (UCLM) Webmasters against Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons at 2 p.m.
The last game will have the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation (USP-F) Panthers against the Southwestern University-Phinma (Cobras) at 5 p.m. / dcb
