Pinamungajan farmer shot, hurt

An 80-YEAR-OLD old farmer was shot and wounded while cultivating his ricefield in barangay Busay, Pinamungajan town, midwest  Cebu last Monday afternoon.

Teofilo Paraiso Llanto was wounded in the forehead.

Police identified the suspect as Jaime Paco, 31, a  resident of Cebu City. He fled after the attack.

Police said it was the victim’s 28-year-old granddaughter who saw Paco shoot the old man.

Police said that while the victim was in his farm in sitio Caban, Paco arrived and was heard shouting ”Noy Filo, asa ang mamarang diri (Noy Filo, where is the witch here?)” before firing a shot.

The victim was taken to a hospital.

An operation to arrest the assailant is ongoing, police said.
