Lapu-lapu drug raids net 5 men

CLOSE TO P1 million of suspected shabu was seized and five persons were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Lapu-Lapu City.

Richard Botero, 32, of barangay Labangon, Cebu City, and Mark Jhoswie Ompad, 28, were arrested  in sitio Buyong, barangay Maribago past 10 p.m. Thursday.

Botero and Ompad, a resident of Maribago, allegedly sold three big packs of shabu worth P150,000 to an agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)  who posed as buyer.

Senior Insp. Verniño Noserale said the seized drugs  were worth P875,000.

Police seized a 9mm caliber pistol from Botero.

Also arrested in a buy-bust operation in barangay Marigondon were Romeo Espinosa, 34; Josephine Abadies, 31; and Roben Espinosa, 31.

Nine packs believed to contain shabu worth P118,000 were seized from the three men, police said.

In Toledo City, a man was arrested after police found packs of suspected shabu worth P230,000  in his house last Thursday afternoon.

Police raided the house of Abondio Alimento, 50, in barangay Poog on the strength of a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Hermes Montero of Branch 59.

Police also arrested Victor Respondo, 42; Bryan Pangilinan, 33; and Jose Ylagan, 41, who were allegedly caught sniffing shabu.

Two big packs, one medium-sized and two sachets of suspected shabu were seized from the house.
