AFTER a grueling start to the tournament, the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars jump right back into the action and battle the St. Benilde Blazers today in the 2015 Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup over at The Arena in San Juan.
With a 1-3 win-loss record, the Jaguars are sitting in fifth place in Division A and are coming off a tough 59-77 loss at the hands of NCAA powerhouse Perpetual Help.
The match was their fourth in a span of just six days and clearly, fatigue had set in on the wards of veteran head coach Jun Noel.
The Jaguars are hoping that the three-day break from the action will reinvigorate their campaign in this tournament which they are using to prepare for the upcoming collegiate wars in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc.
With several of his veterans already exhausting their eligibility, Noel has placed the onus on senior forward Kevin Villafranca who managed just six markers in their last game and sophomore wingmen Mac Labares and Iron Suano. With
James Regalado and Raymund Catipay gone, incoming point guard Roy Villarias has also been tasked with orchestrating the Jaguars’ motion offense.
Their opponent today, the Blazers, are hoping to break out of a two-game slump.
