May 07,2015 - 05:30 PM

Typhoon Dodong (international name Noul) entered the country at 5 a.m. Thursday, packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour with gusts reaching up to 170 kph, the Mactan office of the state weather bureau Pagasa said.

Dodong, which entered at dawn was last spotted east of Surigao City, speeding up to 15 kph west northwest and is moving at 17 km/h.

Pagasa weather analyst Fernando Cada said based on the movement, Dodong may develop into a supertyphoon on May 9.

Dodong is expected to intensify to 2km/h on the next day. Pagasa expects typhoon Dodong to move at 575 km east of Borongan, Eastern Samar tomorrow morning.

Dodong is expected to affect the weather conditions of Visayas within the next 24 hours. Cebu will experience partly cloudy skies all throughout the week, with moderate to occasionally strong winds coming form the northeast.

There will also be a slight rain tomorrow as the typhoon draws close to the province./ CTU Intern Marc Cosep
