Dela Torre, Abello win in Red Cross run

JONAH DELA Torre and Leo Abello dominated the 10-kilometer race of the Disaster Preparedness Run of the Philippine Red Cross-Cebu City Chapter yesterday at the Sumilon Road in the Cebu Business Park.

Dela Torre, who finished second in the recent Hunat Sugbu V: Dagan Para ni Maning’s 21-kilometer last June 21, finished the 10k race in 44 minutes and 38 seconds, beating veteran runner Madelyn Carter, who placed second with a time of 48:18. Ruth Mantilla placed third, clocking 56:27.

Abello crossed the finish line in 43:18 while John Alcano was at second place with a time of 44:32. Laurence Puro clocked 44:39 for third place.

Bryan Lou Guillen emerged the fastest runner in the men’s 5k race with a time of 20:05 while Alesandra Miñoza claimed the top spot in the distaff side with a time of 31:02.

In the 3k race, Jobar Jay Chan and Catherine Yu were the winners, clocking 08:46 and 10:30, respectively.

More than a hundred runners joined in the running event organized by the Philippine Red Cross-Cebu City Chapter.
