Police shot dead a man wanted for attempted murder and grave threats after he allegedly resisted arrest last Saturday in barangay Lut-od, Pinamungajan town in southwest Cebu.

Samuel Villar Baslag died after he was shot in the head by PO1 Kay Pulmano.

Baslag allegedly pulled out a gun and aimed it at PO1 Alberto Bibas, who was in front of the police team serving the warrant of arrest.

PO1 Ian Patrick Carvellida, Pinamungajan police desk officer, said a team headed to barangay Lut-od after receiving a tip on Baslag’s presence there.

“He was standing near his motorcycle, maybe waiting for someone for a (drug) transaction. When one of the police officers who was a meter away from Bibas saw the suspect’s gesture (pulling out a .38 caliber revolver and pointing it at Bibas), one of them immediately shot him,” Carvellida said.

Baslag was rushed to the Pinamungajan District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police allegedly recovered from Baslag  a medium pack of suspected illegal drugs, a green plastic with 17 sachets containing a substance believed to be shabu, and a Yamaha motorcycle.
