Foreign affairs Undersecretary Laura del Rosario said APEC delegates are complaining to her office about jacked up hotel rates in Cebu that have gone up 120 percent from published rates.

She appealed to the Department of Tourism to ask the hotels to be ‘reasonable’.

“Don’t treat us like tourists,” she said in a briefing of APEC 101 to government information officers at the Capitol.

She added that ‘Cebu may be remembered for its expensive hotels,’ if something isn’t done about the accommodations.

Del Rosario said delegates did not have problems with hotel rates in Boracay where they held the Senior Officials’ Meeting during summer peak season or Iloilo.
