The chief of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) welcomed the city council’s move urging all policemen to undergo a drug test.
Senior Supt. Mariano Batiancela said surprise drug tests will be conducted as soon as possible.
“Atong ilhon ang atong gidudahang drug users (We will identify the policemen who are suspected to be drug users),” said Batiancela.
Those tested positive for drug use will be investigated.
Depending on the result of the investigation, a policeman could be dismissed from service, Batiancela said.
Dr. Alice Utlang, chief of the Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap), commended Senior Insp. Percival Miasco for submitting himself to a drug test when a random drug testing was recently conducted among barangay workers in Punta Princesa.
Utlang said Miasco, chief of police in Punta Princesa, served as a good example to all policemen.
