Mary Ann to announce switch to BO-PK today
Cebu City Councilor Mary Ann delos Santos will announce today that she has joined the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK) of former Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña.
The formal announcement will be made at the Lahug barangay hall at 10 a.m.
“I accept the invitation to join BO-PK to pursue a political position that will continue my crusade and advocacy of public service and always the greater good,” delos Santos said in a text message to Cebu Daily News.
Cebu City Councilor Margot Osmeña said d delos Santos asked her, Tomas and other BO-PK allies to be present.
“It’s basically a Lahug affair. We don’t know exactly what to expect. She (Delos Santos) just asked us to go so we are going,” Osmeña told CDN.
Delos Santos resigned last Monday as minority floor leader of the City Council in a privilege speech during the regular session where she complained of “bullying” and feeling “betrayed” by party mates in Team Rama after taking positions that don’t sit well with the administration.
Delos Santos will be joining the BO-PK slate in the north district with re-electionist councilor Nida Cabrera, Alvin Dizon, Sisinio Andales and Alvin Arcilla.
BO-PK is also fielding former vice mayor Joy Augustus Young and former Banilad barangay captain Malou Tabar.
BO-PK’s south district slate includes re-electionist councilors Osmeña and Eugenio Gabuya Jr.
They will be joined by Mambaling councilor Ann Vestil-Palomo, former basketball player Bonel Balingit, Labangon barangay Captain Vic Buendia and Cenro head Randy Navarro.
Team Rama candidates for the north district include re-electionist councilors Dave Tumulak; Nendell Abella; James Cuenco; Parkmall Casino manager Renator “Junjun” Osmeña Jr; and former councilor Edu Rama, Jose Daluz III and Jocelyn Pesquera.
In the north district, the group has added BCLP Cebu president Alvin Raymond Garcia in their list.
