Games today:
Cebu Coliseum
5 p.m. – USC vs USJ-R (Jrs.)
6:30 p.m. – SWU vs UC (Srs.)
THIS season, the defending champions Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras have made a habit of proving doubters wrong, showing the rest of the league that having just nine players is all they need to shine.
Tonight, they continue their quest for a repeat title when they tangle with the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters in the 15th Cesafi men’s basketball tournament over at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Cobras of head coach Yayoy Alcoseba are riding high on the crest of their rousing 79-77 win over the league-leading University of San Carlos (USC) last Sunday, a victory made possible by the heroics of guard John Lloyd Luz who stuck a dagger into the Warriors’ hearts with a game-winning three-pointer from the corner with a tenth of a second remaining of that hotly-contested match.
In spite having just nine players, none of whom stand over 6-foot-3, the Cobras have grabbed third place with a 4-2 win-loss card. A win today will give them a tie for second with the idle University of the Visayas Green Lancers who currently hold a 5-2 mark.
