CEBU City Hall’s demolition team resumed work at the Doña Pepang Cemetery, clearing over 20 vacant niches and mausoleums yesterday.

Raquel Arce, head of the Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement (Probe) team, said settlers have  voluntarily demolished their structures since last Monday.

“We’re thankful that they voluntarily cleared their structures. There was no resistance,” she said.

Arce said they were assigned lots in the relocation site in barangay Lorega San Miguel.

Arce said less than 10 structures remain in the lot in front of the cemetery. She said the families living in these structures haven’t been given a specific relocation site yet.

“Hopefully by the end of the month, they’ll be given relocation. As soon as they will be given lots, the settler know that they have to transfer since we need to already  complete the project,” Arce said.
