Cebuano guard Joseph Nalos made his return to the Adamson lineup in triumphant fashion as he led the Soaring Falcons to a huge, 75-74 upset of the La Salle Green Archers in the 78th UAAP men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Nalos missed their last game, a 75-82 overtime loss to National University, as he was serving a one-game suspension for getting ejected in their game versus Ateneo.
The former Southwestern University stalwart finished with 20 points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals to help the Falcons get their second win in 11 tries.
Papi Sarr led the squad with 23 points and 14 rebounds. But most important was his two free-throws with 15 seconds left that gave Adamson a 75-73 lead after trailing by as much as 16 points.
Nalos and Sarr combined for 22 in the final 10 minutes of action.
Prince Rivero led La Salle, which dropped to 5-5, with 23 points but squandered a chance to tie the game after splitting his charities with eight ticks left in the match. The Archers had one last shot after regaining possession after a double-lane violation call but Andrei Caracut missed the go-ahead trey.
