PH sepak takraw team finishes 3rd in Bangkok

CEBUANO striker Rheyjey Ortouste put up another strong showing to lead the Philippine Sepak Takraw team a third place finish with a 21-19, 21-15 beating of last Friday night in the ISTAF Super Series in Bangkok, Thailand.
After finishing with 19 spikes and five blocks in their semifinal loss against Malaysia, Ortouste, the former Abellana National School (ANS) standout, tallied 15 spikes and four blocks to lead the country’s two-set win.
Takeshita Terashima scored a game-high 23 spikes for Japan.
Emmanuel Escote’s nine spikes and one block in the opening set that allowed the Filipinos to escape with the two-point win.
In other games, Thailand banked on exploited its homecourt advantage to the hilt, nipping Malaysia, 22-20, 21-14 to win the crown./Correspondent John Carlo Villaruel
