Hua Ching, Legends top Cebu table tennis
THE LEGENDS Bacolod and Hua Ching Foundation reigned supreme in the 1st Cebu City Mayor’s Cup Invitational Table Tennis Tournament held at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) covered court last Nov 7 and 8.
Legends Bacolod was crowned as overall champions in the 40-Above category while Hua Ching Foundation topped the Open Category.
For winning their division, the Legends received P10,000 cash prize and a trophy. Hua Ching, meanwhile, pocketed P2,000 cash and also got a trophy.
Winners for the Legends were Arvin Villaruel and Makoi Jong, who swept MECTTEL-B’s Rodel Raneses and John Reyes, 12-10, 11-7, 13-11, in the doubles’ category.
In the Open singles’ category, the Hua Ching Foundation’s Jonathan Lagrosas stunned Nielben Carion of JOTTC, 11-8, 5-11, 11-8, 3-11, 11-7. In the doubles category, the Hua Ching duo of Glenn Rodriguez and Genesis Dapat beat JOTTC’s tandem of Michael Motel and Jude Labastida, 10-12, 11-2, 14-16, 11-9, 11-9.
