AMATEUR rugby players from different parts of the world will gather in Cebu on Nov. 14 as they participate in the 8th Annual Cebu 10s International Rugby Festival at Cebu International School in Talamban.

The tournament has five different classifications, including men’s full-contact play.

There will be 12 teams participating, headed by home team Cebu Dragons and a Chinese squad named the Beijing Aardvarks. Completing the teams in men’s full-contact play are the Lapu-Lapu

Jets, Low Flying Dragons, Alabang Eagles, Davao Durians, Iloilo Rugby, Clark Jets, Cagayan De Oro Rugby, Duma Dogs, Paradise Hunters and the Albay Vulcans.

Cebu rugby festival committee member Maggie Royo said the tournament aims to promote the sport in the country.

“The aim of this tournament is to develop rugby and give grassroots players a chance to play against international teams, and top level rugby teams,” said Royo.
