DESPITE a strong second place finish after the eliminations, the Cebuano squad UFFC Guardians paved themselves a painful exit after getting stunned by Manila-based team Flight Squad, 18-12, in last Sunday’s semifinal round of the Touchdown Manila Flag Football tournament at the Ayala Alabang field in Manila.

“Gihilak nalang namo among kapildi kay wala gyud mi magtuo nga mapildi mi ato kay napildi nato namo sila sa elimination,” a distraught UFFC Guardian Lee Mar Saceda told CDN.

The UFFC Guardians were in command of the match before the Flight Squad took control at endgame for the dramatic come-from-behind win.

Finishing as champions of the tournament was another Manila-based squad Doggs who pulled off a massive upset of their own by waylaiding the topranked G-Unit team.

The Guardians’ only elimination round loss was inflicted by eventual champions Doggs. They scored a draw on the top-ranked G-Unit team to settle behind the latter in the elimination standings.

This weekend, the UFFC Guardians team will face the Rams in the 17th Cebu Flag Football League (CFFL) Superbowl Finals.
