THE Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu will celebrate its 82nd annual fiesta on Dec. 12 with a 10 a.m. Solemn High Mass to be officiated by Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma.
The celebration carrying the theme, “Ang Kristohanong Pagtuo: ‘Uban ni Maria-Birhen sa Guadalupe Madasigon, Matinud-anon, Makinabuhi Isip Simbahan sa Kabus,” is held in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu, the patroness of Cebu.
Msgr. Jose Montecillo, the parish priest, said the novena started last Dec. 2 and will culminate on the feast day itself.
The daily activities include, Aurora at 3 a.m. and a 5 a.m. Mass by Msgr. Montecillo followed by regular masses with various sponsors with the last Mass at 6 p.m. to be celebrated by members of Church hierarchy.
They include the following: Dec. 9-Bishop Zacarias Jimenez, D.D.; Dec. 10-Bishop Julito Cortes, D.D.; Dec. 11- Concelebrated Mass, 4 p.m. with Bishop John Du, D.D., Diocese of Leyte; 5:30 p.m.–Solemn procession; Dec. 12 (feast day), 4 p.m.-Mass by Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal.
