Mandaue City needs architect’s office — UAP
A group of architects in Mandaue City is lobbying for the creation of a separate office to help oversee the implementation of development projects for the city.
Jensen Racho, director of United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) District C1, said that having such an office will ensure that the city’s development is well planned.
“With the city’s development, the rise of condominiums and factories, we believe that Mandaue City needs an architect’s office,” he said
He said that UAP is urging the city to have an office that will focus on urban designs in major urban centers.
Based on the Architectural Act of 2004, a city needs to put up an architect’s office like the one in Toledo City.
At present, Mandaue City only has an architectural section that is under the Office of the Building Official (OBO).
“In Tacloban City, they have an architect’s office which has been a big help in planning for the reconstruction of the place after typhoon Yolanda,” he said.
UAP is celebrating its 44th National Architecture Week starting last Monday until December 15.
In Mandaue City, the group started the weeklong celebration by installing billboards about architecture in the city plaza and in barangay Subangdaku. They will also have exhibit at Parkmall from December 11 to 13.
