Since the start of the election gun ban at 12 midnight of January 10, three persons have been arrested in separate operations in the cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.
Elements of Hoops Dome Police Station conducted a checkpoint Sunday night in barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City and arrested Adelino Oyao, 45, for allegedly carrying a .357 revolver with five ammunition. When frisked, police found a live hand grenade in his pocket.
Police also arrested Julius Segovia, 38, in another operation in barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City Sunday night for allegedly bringing a .38 revolver with five amnunition.
In Mandaue City, Joey Manigo, 22, was arrested during a checkpoint in barangay Basak for allegedly carrying a .22 caliber revolver with five ammunitions.
Manigo, of barangay Jubay, Lilo-an town, was initially flagged down for not wearing a helmet while driving his motorcycle.
Charges for illegal possession of firearms and violation of Comelec gun ban were filed against the suspects.
