Radaza allows taping of firearms amid election period
LAPU-LAPU City Mayor Paz Radaza invited the police at her home as witnesses for the taping of her firearm in accordance with election laws restricting firearm use.
Senior Supt. Arnel Libed, Lapu-Lapu City police chief, said the police can tape the firearms of any candidate or reelectionist official at his or her home based on directives by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Lapu-Lapu City Rep. Aileen Radaza was supposed to have her firearms taped but she is in Manila.
The mayor uses her firearms at the firing range and was issued a gun when she was still the barangay chairperson of Mactan 10 years ago.
Libed sent letters to all local candidates to voluntarily participate in the muzzle taping of firearms as well as the peace covenant signing this April 2 at Our Lady of the Rule Parish.
