THE University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers authored an incredible upset as they eked past the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 87-86, in the 1st Brgy. Tabunok Inter-Collegiate Basketball League on Saturday night at the Tabunok Sports Complex in Talisay City.

Roy Quiachon, John Alocillo and Lyndon Colina came up big for the rebuilding Panthers as they knocked down big baskets down the stretch to complete the upset win. Quiachon had 16 points, Alocillo added 13 while Colina contributed 12 to help USPF win its first game in the tournament organized by Tabunok barangay captain Maning Cabriana.

The loss spoiled the 30-point outing of William McCaloney. Ian Ortega and Mavii Suarez each scored 18 for USC, which fell to 1-1 (win-loss).
USC was ahead at the half, 41-37, but suddenly lost focus and USPF took advantage in the form of a 25-16 blast to surge ahead, 62-57, heading to the final frame.
