SAFETY personnel of the Ayala Center Cebu managed to rescue a girl who tried to jump from the third floor of the Ayala Center Cebu at past 11 am Monday.

In a 16-second video uploaded by a certain The Morefield on YouTube, a video sharing site, the girl was seen walking on the edge of one of the steel railings at the mall’s third floor which caused some mall goers to scream in panic.

Lawyer Jeanette Japzon, Cebu Holdings Inc. corporate communications manager said safety officer Dommar Guera quickly grabbed the girl and pinned her down on the floor.

The first few seconds of the video showed Guera wearing a T-shirt and orange pants grabbing the girl immediately just as she was about to jump. The girl, clad in T-shirt and shorts initially resisted.

A mall goer who requested anonymity said he was strolling in the area when he heard the screams and saw the girl trying to jump off the third floor. Japzon declined to elaborate on the incident.

“It’s really not for us to disclose. We have to respect the privacy, especially that she is a minor,” Japzon said in a text message.

The girl was brought to the mall’s medical office and then served lunch by the mall management as she waited for her guardian to arrive.
