BIO-FRESH+ grabbed the last ticket to the finals after they outlasted Megacryl500, 79-74, in their do-or-die semifinals match in the Architects + Engineers Basketball Association Davies Paints Cup on Saturday night at the University of San Carlos gym.
After being invisible for most of the competition, prolific guard Justine Aspacio reintroduced himself by leading Bio-Fresh+ in scoring with 24 points, highlighted by five makes from beyond the rainbow area.
Ayi Armenion added 15 points and seven rebounds while Brian Acebedo had a double-double performance of 12 markers and 10 boards spiced by four assists.
Bio-Fresh+ dominated from the get-go and raced off to a 59-38 lead after the first three periods.
Megacryl500 tried to rally in the fourth by outscoring Bio-Fresh+, 35-21, but time ran out on their comeback, giving the latter the win and the right to face defending Davies Paints Cup champions, Mortaflex in a winner-take-all match this Saturday at the same venue.
Loreniel Tequin gave his all for Megacryl500 as he scored 32 points, grabbed six rebounds and stole the ball four times. But it was all for naught as he failed to get ample support from the rest of his teammates.
Former Southwestern University guard Joseph Escober had 17 markers for Megacryl500.
