A WOMAN, her son and nephew were arrested in separate buy bust operations by police at their homes in Barangay Mantalungon, Dalaguete town in southern Cebu last Friday.

Senior Insp. Dexter Basergo, Dalaguete police chief, said they arrested 24-year-old Jolito Belia, a level two drug pusher and his 57-year-old mother Lucilla whose husband was jailed on drug charges.

Confiscated from their possession were 10 small sachets and three medium size plastic packs containing suspected shabu worth P177,000 and one .22 revolver.

Belia, a graduate of marine engineering in a Cebu university, claimed that he turned to drugs because a neck injury he incurred in a vehicular accident kept him from landing a job.

PO1 Julie Tristan Villahermosa of the Dalaguete police said Belia tried to escape after police barged into his home.

He was caught repacking the shabu into small and large packets.

Police also arrested 40-year-old Roberto Belia, who lives near the Belia home.

Recovered from his possession were 17 small sachets containing suspected shabu and the P200 marked money used in the operation.
Villahermosa said the arrest came after two months of surveillance of the homes of the three suspects.

All three are detained at the Dalaguete police precinct pending the filing of charges against them.
