IT WAS a night of glamour and glitter at the Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa, when Jewelmer Joaillerie put up “A Journey to the Extraordinary.”

The whole event was a celebration of Jewelmer’s supreme creation— the Golden South Sea Pearl. They come from Jewelmer’s pearl farm in Palawan.

The fun started at the resort’s lobby lounge as a dressy crowd filed in to sip drinks, nibble canapés, exchange small talk and big impressions.

Jewelmer’s top echelon was well represented: Jacques Brenellec Sr., group president and CEO; his son Jacques Christophe Brenellec, deputy CEO and vice president; Gaelle Brenellec, creative director and vice president; Abelardo Mondoñedo, senior vice president; Tricie Legarda, executive marketing manager; and Penelope Uy, communications and events manager.

From the Shangri-La end: general manager Rene Egle and his wife Nelly; Albert Lafuente, director of sales and marketing; Cassandra Cuevas, director of communications; and Lea Arbiol, assistant director of events management.

Very much present were Dindo and Iris Arcenas with their pretty daughter Mia who glowed with the aura of a bride-to-be.

Later, she and fiancé Jacques Christophe Brenellec performed “Summertime” and “The Very Thought of You.” She sang and he played the saxophone. But that’s going ahead of the story.

Guests had been asked to descend to the lower level and occupy impeccably laid out tables at the foyer of the Mactan ballroom where the theme was definitely French. The Amp Band was playing, but did it have to be so loud?

Issa Litton, daughter of Johnny Litton who was present, hosted the program. Jewelmer’s new corporate video was projected, depicting its rising trajectory since its inception in 1979 to today.

Then came the launch of Jewelmer Joaillerie’s 2016 collection, those golden pearls looking fabulous as worn by a bevy of top Manila models, who wafted and glided in creations by Mia Arcenas and Rhett Eala.

A superb menu was served for dinner, and the evening went on with dancing to the band, which true to form blared on.
