THREE men on board a black motorcycle carted away at least P100,000 cash in another daring daylight robbery in Bogo City in northern Cebu yesterday.
PO2 Alexander Ancao, investigator of Bogo City Police, told Cebu Daily News that the suspects pretended to be customers inside Inday Store, then declared a holdup and threatened the staff at gunpoint at about 1 p.m. yesterday.
The store, located along M.H del Pilar St. in Barangay Carbon, sells dry goods, mobile phone load cards and encashes bank checks for a fee.
Saleslady Gina Lampitao, 40, said two of the suspects wore white T-shirts and ball caps while the third was in a brown T-shirt.
Lampitao said one of the two men in white, who also wore sunglasses, pointed a gun at her.
Out of fear, Lampitao said she retrieved about P100,000 from the cash drawer and handed the money to the suspects. All three fled on board a black motorcycle. The owner of the store, Cresentacion Mendoza, 82, was on the second floor when the robbery took place. She learned about the incident a few minutes after the robbers fled.
Police were still trying to identify the robbers. Ancao said there was no security guard nor a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera in the store.
The robbery was carried out less than a month after a Junrex cell shop in Bogo lost P135,000 worth of mobile phones and cash.
Two weeks before this, a grocery store inside a mall in Bogo was also robbed.
Cebu Provincial Police Office director Senior Supt. Clifford Gairanod had warned Supt. Richard Oliver, Bogo Police chief, that he would be relieved if the situation does not improve.
