CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama called up Senior Supt. Benjamin Santos, Cebu City police chief, at his home in the Rama compound along with other police precinct chiefs a day after he voiced suspicions that they would be used by his rival mayoralty candidate Tomas Osmena during the elections.

“The scheduled meeting (at 11 p.m. Wednesday night) will be held at the Don Vicente Rama house in Basak, San Nicolas,” Rama said.

The mayor said the meeting doesn’t concern election politics but only peace and order during the elections.

Rama said he usually calls for a command conference with police officials prior to a big event.

“So we will know how ready the police is to serve and protect us,” the mayor said.

He said he will also ask the Police Coordinating Advisory Council to attend the meeting.

When asked why he scheduled the meeting at his residential compound in 11 pm, Rama said he has no other available time for them other than tonight.

The mayor said there’s nothing anomalous about the meeting since his home is also his office.
