The country’s Marathon Queen Mary Joy Tabal left for Japan earlier today for a short training program to prepare herself for another Olympic qualifying race in Canada this coming May 29.

Tabal, who fell short to qualify in her first try during the Boston Marathon last month, will spend two weeks in Japan for the training.

The 26-year-old Tabal will be competing in the Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon in Ottawa, Canada for another shot in this August’s Rio Olympics.

In her first attempt, she clocked two hours, 49 minutes and one second, four minutes shy of the the qualifying time for women’s marathon.
