At least 60 families living near a bridge in Purok 2 and Purok 6 in Barangay Cubacub in Mandaue City were forced to evacuate their homes early Wednesday morning after early morning rain caused water level to rise.

Heavy raining affected Mandaue City and parts of Metro Cebu area starting 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

Mandaue City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MCDRRMO) head Felix Suico said the early morning rains flooded parts of the city including Barangay Cubacub.

Suico said the water level went down but it still reached the average height of a child.

The evacuated families were asked to stay at the Cubacub barangay hall and elevated areas located close to their homes.
