CEBUANA jin Nica Garces will be competing in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in no time as she is now in Manila training with her new team, the National University (NU) Bulldogs.

The 16-year-old Garces was recruited by NU earlier this year following her dominant success in big national and international competitions.

According to her father Eric, Nica has blended in well with her new team.

“She is able to adjust with the new environment there,” Eric told Cebu Daily News. “She has new friends already.”

Garces’ latest feat was her gold medal performance in the 2016 Palarong Pambansa in Legazpi City.

Aside from her training with the Bulldogs, she also trains with the Philippine National Team every afternoon in preparation for the Korea Open slated late this June, where she salvaged a silver medal in the tournament’s edition last year.
