Cebu to mark Independence Day

THE Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City and Cebu provincial governments will hold separate activities to be attended by their respective government employees to mark the 118th Independence Day celebration of the country.

The Cebu City government will celebrate the day with a Holy Mass at the Plaza Sugbo grounds at 7:30 a.m.

Acting Cebu City Mayor Margarita Osmeña said she will give a short speech where she will discuss the significance of the day to the Cebu City Hall employees and officials, who are required to attend the activity.

In Lapu-Lapu City, the local government will hold a flag-raising ceremony at the Mactan Shrine to celebrate the day.

Mayor Paz Radaza said in a memorandum that all Lapu-Lapu City government employees are required to attend the ceremony.
They are also required to wear Filipiniana attire.

However, there will be no other activities after the flag-raising ceremony.

At the Capitol, the Cebu provincial government will also hold their flag-raising ceremony but no other activities will be performed to mark the 118th Independence Day.
