At least six persons allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade were arrested in separate police operations in Cebu province.
In Danao City, 35-year-old Jubert Batiquin of Barangay Poblacion landed in the hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound on the left leg during the buy-bust operation conducted by the Danao City Police led by SPO3 Felix Restauro on Sunday morning.
Batiquin allegedly pulled out his revolver after sensing that he was transacting with a cop, who bought from him one small sachet of alleged shabu worth P200.
One of the members of the raiding team shot Batiquin first before he could pull the trigger. Batiquin was brought to Danao District Hospital but was later transferred to Cebu City.
Seized from him were one medium, 10 small and one large packs of alleged shabu weighing 60.44 grams with an estimated value of P713,192, a 38 revolver with five bullets and P200 buy-bust money.
In Dalaguete town, southern Cebu, around P330,000 worth of alleged shabu was confiscated from suspect Dindo Llanos, 47, of Barangay Poblacion.
Dalaguete police led by Senior Insp. Dexter Basirgo arrested Llanos around 7 p.m. last Sunday based on a search warrant issued by Judge Maximo Perez of Regional Trial Court Argao for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Seized from Llanos’s house were two small sachets and four medium packs of alleged shabu weighing 28 grams worth around P330,000 and drug paraphernalia, including a weighing scale.
Also arrested in a buy-bust operation last Sunday at 6 p.m. was a 57-year-old man from Barangay Banhigan, Badian town, southwest Cebu.
Badian policemen led by PO3 Randy Balansag immediately arrested the suspect, Calixto Andolana, after handing a small pack of alleged shabu worth P200 to their companion, who posed as poseur buyer.
Confiscated from Andolana were two small sachets and 2 large packs of alleged shabu worth around P160,000.
In Pinamungahan town, southwest Cebu, a woman under the drug watch list was arrested by the town’s policemen led by police chief, Senior Insp. Gilfred Baroman.
Suspect Bernadeth Guerrero of Barangay Tutay yielded two small and medium packs of alleged shabu worth around P60,000 during the buy-bust operation.
In Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island in northern Cebu, arrested during a buy-bust operation were Elpedio Cabrera Jr. and his cohort Rizal Pallorin.
Insp. Romeo Caacoy, chief of the Sta. Fe Police Station, said 16 small sachets and two medium packs containing illegal drugs believed to be shabu with an estimated street value of P15,000 were confiscated from the suspects.
