THE man who jumped off the Marcelo Fernan Bridge had been identified by his mother who was visited by police to inform her of what happened to him.

Cleofe Laguna said she last saw her 20-year-old son Dexter Laguna alive last Saturday evening. Police visited her home in barangay Tabok, Mandaue City to inform her of the discovery of her son’s remains last Monday evening.

She said Dexter left for work on Saturday and never returned home.
Senior Insp. Diosdado Malazarte, Opao police precinct chief, said Cleofe visited their precinct to report her son’s disappearance.

Dexter was found washed ashore near the Cebu International Port (CIP) in Cebu City late last Monday afternoon. His remains were brought to a funeral parlor in Mandaue City for autopsy.

She said her son wanted to quit his job in a food processing plant in Mandaue City but his supervisor refused because they don’t have a replacement for him.

Cleofe said work pressure and illegal drugs may have caused her son’s depression. She recalled instances when Dexter would talk about unidentified men whom he claimed were tailing him and wanted to kill him.
