TWENTY five disbursement officers were on hand to facilitate the distribution of the P1,000 cash aid to senior citizens in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City Thursday morning.
Most of the recipients were thankful to the efficient distribution of cash aid though there were some who were dismayed over the small amount.
“I use the amount to buy my maintenance medicines. It’s nice but for most of us, it’s not enough,” senior citizen Verallo Benito said.
Confusion also broke out over the system of cash distributionn to bedridden citizens with many people acting as proxy for the recipients.
Officer-in-charge Engr. Alberto Bontuyan said the authorization letters will not be honored as the disbursement officer will personally hand over the amount to the beneficiary.
The elderly who cannot claim their cash aid today can coordinate with their barangay chairperson so they can claim it at City Hall at an appointed time./Ateneo de Manila Intern Maria Lelaina R. Cardeno
