LEAVING nothing to chance in its bid to come up with quality fights, the Omega Pro Sports International (OPSI) has decided to move the second installment of the ‘Who’s Next?’ Pro Boxing Series to a later date.
Instead of July 10, the double championship boxing extravaganza will now be held on July 30 still at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu Atrium.
“We are moving the event to the 30th as we would want to present to the boxing fans the best possible boxing event we possibly can. We will be showcasing two championship bouts sanctioned by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and the World Boxing Federation (WBF). Also, we will be announcing something special in the coming days as well,” said OPSI President Pio Paulo Castillo.
The event powered by Hyundai’s all-new 2016 Tucson will have WBO Asia-Pacific Youth Super-Bantamweight champion and the WBO eleventh-ranked Jhack Tepora defending the title he won last March 6 in the series’ inaugural event.
Also defending his WBF Asia Bantamweight title is Kenny Demecillo, who will take on Rambo Lagos, rated No. 13 in the Philippine rankings.
Top flyweight prospect Christian “The Bomb” Araneta will see action in a 10-round non-title fight against the 36-fight veteran Charlie Cabilla of Valencia, Bukidnon.
“The complete fight card will be announced to the public in the coming days together with the opponent of Jhack Tepora,” OPSI’s Vice President for Promotions Chad Cañares said in an e-mail.
“We likewise will be making more exciting announcements in the coming weeks regarding the event that we feel would enliven the interest of boxing fans in the country. We, at OPSI, are inviting everyone to come and experience Who’s Next? Pro Boxing Series. This event is free to the public,” added Cañares.
