Carcar mayor outlines projects, achievements

By: Carmel Loise Matus July 08,2016 - 11:03 PM

NINE years after it was formally declared a city, Carcar will have a new city hall building.

This is among the programs and projects that Mayor Nicepuro Apura presented as his administration’s accomplishment in his previous term as mayor during the celebration of the city’s 9th Charter Day.

In his state of the city address (SOCA) on Thursday evening, Apura highlighted the ongoing construction of their new four-story city hall which is set for completion by the end of the year or by January next year.

This is aside from the road concreting and road opening projects implemented in the city.

Apura said delivery of free basic services for indigents, (persons with disabilities) PWDs and senior citizens continue in the city.

He also mentioned the city’s having two specialist doctors at the city’s health office serving more indigents with their free consultations.

He also cited that over 2,000 indigents have availed of their “Serbisyo Alang sa Kabus nga Carcaranon” (SAKCAR) program where they provide free coffins and the funeral car, if needed.

There are now high-definition closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) that are installed in strategic areas along the city’s streets to help curb crime.

This is aside from the reported 363 drug pushers and users that surrendered under their Oplan Tokhang.

He also recognized the efforts of former congressman and now Talisay City Mayor Eduardo Gullas in helping Carcar achieve its cityhood status.

Apura also thanked the residents of Carcar for voting for him and his slate.
