ABOUT 500 persons belonging to different militant groups staged a rally at Colon Street in Cebu City to urge President Rodrigo Duterte to address national and local concerns hours before he delivers his first State of the Nation Address at the Batasang Pambansa building in Quezon City.

The regional chapter of the militant group Bayan opposed extrajudicial killings while the Sanlakas-Cebu members hung streamers along the skywalk of the Social Security System (SSS) as well as two men hanging on the sidewalk to signify their opposition to the death penalty.

Among the concerns raised were the end of the K to 12 program, scrapping of the Joint Administrative Order 2014-01 and ending demolition without relocation.
