INMATES of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) raised P30,000 as rewàrd money to those who can bring back Arnel Mait who escaped from the facility last Monday.

Lito Granda, the designated prison mayor, said if Mait decides to surrender they will give the partial reward to his family as assistance. “If he surrenders we will not punish them,” Granda said. He said this will serve to remind inmates who escape that it would be okay for them to return since they won’t be punished.

Capitol consultant on jail matters Marco Toral said the inmates raised the money so visitation rights will be reinstated for them. The CPDRC suspended visitation rights of the inmates following Mait’s escape. Mait escaped by disguising himself as one of the visitors. He had his own stamp on his arm and a visitor’s ID with him when he slipped past the CPDRC guards.
