A POST-WORKOUT selfie of Angel Locsin is giving netizens the slightest hope that she will still play the role as beloved Filipino heroine
Darna in a movie.
On her Instagram, the 31-year-old actress uploaded a photo of her doing a “Darna pose” after a gym session last Thursday.
She captioned the post: “Naks” with an added hashtag #yabangpose.
The photo has earned a lot of more than 2,000 comments and almost 50,000 likes. Some netizens threw questions at her if she is still going to play the role in the big screen, a few were reminded of Angel’s role about the komiks character that she played in GMA-7’s 2005 telefantasya.
Netizens expressed their willingness to wait for Angel to don the costume once again.
“Hihintayin namin ang muli mong paglipad,” username @chainars left a comment.
Angel was supposed to get the role; but she announced in October 2015 that she could no longer play Darna when a disc bulge developed in her spine due to her rigid training for the role.
Last June, a netizen asked via Instagram if she will still star in the movie, six months after a first teaser was shown during the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival.
The ABS-CBN actress responded, “As long as naniniwala ka.”
It has been 11 years ago since Angel first donned the Darna costume and blurted “Ding, ang bato!” in GMA Network’s adaptation of the superheroine’s story.
Angel is currently shooting another movie titled “The Third Party,” where she is reunited with former onscreen partners Zanjoe Marudo and Sam Milby.
