Felicia’s delightful ramblings

LAUNCHED last Saturday at Cafe George in Banilad was the precious book of poems titled “Ramblings of the Heart” by Felicia Marie Magsaysay Sun.

Her mom, Myra Magsaysay Sun, arranged the event, which was also to celebrate Felicia’s birthday. She was the recipient of numerous gifts and bouquets of flowers.

Every place at the dinner table was provided with a copy of the book, a veritable temptation to flick its pages and read a poem at random. The writing is exquisite, the turn of phrase elegantly poignant.

You see, the poems are mostly inspired by the remembrance of her late father, Franco Sun, who passed away quite unexpectedly two years ago. That is the time frame of the poems, which are really a delight to read.

It must be the literary genes.

Felicia’s mother Myra writes; and so did her grandmother Jo Gaboya Magsaysay whose best writing is complied in a book that is available from Myra.

It reflects Cebu society at its best and at its most vulnerable.

It is not easy to write poetry, which words are often said to

disquise actual thoughts. Whatever reason Felicia has for writing, she has to be encouraged to write more.

The discipline to do so is worthwhile; and the satisfaction derived immeasureable, both for the reader, and more importantly, for the writer.

We can hardly wait for more from the pen (computer) of Felicia. We’ll tell you more.
