BOGO CITY netter Jan Godfrey Seno failed to advance in the PHINMA-PSC International Junior Tennis Championships after losing to top-seed N. Kunsuwan of Thailand, 7-5, 6-3, yesterday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
The 13th-ranked Seno started the tournament strong as he blew past fourth-seed Matthew Garcia, 6-1, 6-0, in the opening round earlier in the day.
But things didn’t go exactly as planned for the 16-year-old Seno of the National University as fatigue took its toll in his second round match against the well-rested Kunsuwan, who had a bye in the first round.
All hope is not lost for Cebu though, as former University of San Carlos (USC) ace Arthur Craig Pantino will play in the boys singles and doubles division of the same event tomorrow.
Pantino qualified for the tournament by virtue of his top ten placing in the Philippine Tennis Association (PHILTA) rankings for seven consecutive months.
