AROUND 14,000 plus athletes from 300 cities and municipalities around the Philippines will converge at the Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex today for the opening ceremonies of the 2016 Batang Pinoy National Finals.
The week-long multi-sporting meet organized by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will feature 26 sporting event in various venues around Davao del Norte and Tagum City.
Overall third placer and last year’s host Cebu City, will be fielding in 290 athletes while the Cebu Province will have 95 athletes. Mandaue City is also vying in the sports conclave for junior athletes.
PSC chairman William “Butch” Ramirez will spearhead the opening ceremonies along with commissioners Charles Raymond A. Maxey, Celia Kiram and Ramon Fernandez.
