LAPU-LAPU City’s seniors and persons with disabilities in the city’s 30 barangays received their financial assistance handed over by City Hall personnel yesterday.
The senior citizens who numbered 23,000 each received P2,000 this month, about P200 more from last year.
Gomersendo Aro, president of the Office of the Senior Citizens Association (Osca), said the City Council is considering to raise the amount next year.

Aro said the seniors also receive birthday cakes at their homes with the mayor sponsoring a birthday party to those reaching 100 years old.
PWDs, who now number 2,400 in the city, also received their cash assistance of P2,500 distributed at their barangay halls.
In Cebu City, the seniors each received P2,000 in cash aid, their last for the year.
