I WAS practically glued to the TV for one whole day last Friday to watch the inauguration of businessman Donald John Trump as the 45th president of the US.
The ceremony and the entire affair was in a way both solemn and full of festivity, witnessed by thousands of Americans including former presidents like Barack Obama.
The Trump family looked so regal in their attire from First Lady Melania to the children most especially Ivanka. Again President Trump emphasized his “America First” policy in his inaugural address that was cheered by Americans who attended the event.
Once again, let me reiterate that the very reason Trump won the election is his “America First” advocacy that attracted so many white Americans to support him.
For the Caucasians, this is an opportunity to reclaim their position in the US after being overshadowed by other races. That’s why those who attended last Friday’s inauguration were mostly whites.
It was also observed that the route parade was somehow empty with so many people taking to the streets to stage protests. Some political observers are saying that the protestors outnumber the crowd who attended Trump’s inauguration.
But at the end of the day, it was Trump who was sworn in as president and I join those who wish him good luck and pray for a better relationship between the Philippines and the US that would serve the mutual interests of each country.
As our new administration is seeking to establish a closer relationship with communist countries like China and Russia, we pray that it would result in better ties with all countries.
I recently heard that China is sending its huge oil rig towards the South China Sea. I am hoping that the Chinese government is not going to explore the area exclusively and that our country can also do its own exploration there.

The death of a Korean businessman inside Camp Crame is both shocking and disturbing as it happened right under the nose of PNP Director General Bato dela Rosa.
While House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez called on Bato to resign in order to save the president from further humiliation, General Bato should look deeper into the case and punish those responsible for the crime.
