ANXIOUS OVER MUSLIMS
While Muslims like Asliha Alibsar say they feel safe in Cebu, her sentiments aren’t shared by some netizens who feared that those who came from Marawi City would sow terror in the province.
A netizen named Peter Harder wrote, “Thats very good that you feel safe, but how about us Christians, I don’t feel safe anymore if I see Muslims around me.”
Another netizen, Anak Nitay, also wrote in Cebuano: “That’s why in those places where there is no peace, they have a different mindset especially among the men. I hope there won’t be many here in Cebu.”
However, a netizen named Nessa Hansen defended Muslims and wrote, “Let’s be calm. Muslims, Christians, we are all children of God. We may have different beliefs and culture but remember we all bleed red. No to racists.”
Love Anthonet was also quick to reply: “Maski unsa pa na religion ma Muslim man o Christian respetohay lang jud ta (Whatever their religion, whether Muslim or Christian, let’s just respect each other). they are good people.”
