Magpale, Davide inaugurate P110-M road in Carmen, distribute P2.9-M cash incentives in Danao
A total of P2.970 million in cash incentives was distributed by the Cebu Provincial Government to barangay workers and also inaugurated a P110 million worth of newly-concreted road in Carmen town and Danao City on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale led the activities and later on also met with the youth of Carmen for the Province-wide Youth Caravan.
Davide and Magpale first visited Carmen where they distributed the cash incentives to 547 barangay health workers (BHW), animal health aide (BAHA), nutrition scholars (BNS), tanods, daycare workers (DCW) and lupong tagapamayapa at the municipal gym.
In her speech, Magpale said someone told her of a rumor that the distribution of cash incentive for the barangay workers was already stopped. She stressed that it is clearly “fake news.”
The vice governor explained that there is just a delay in the distribution of the cash incentives due to the number of barangays in Cebu Province.
“Di na tinuod nga giundang namo ang cash incentive. Fake news na,” said Magpale.
She told the village workers in Danao and Carmen that there will be an increase of cash incentive for this year.
Magpale said that she and Davide do not make promises that they can’t keep.
“Expect sa 2019 nga duna nay increase ang inyong incentive allowance. Di mi mosaad og pila kay kana subject sa computation sa treasurer’s office but, substantial amount. Ayaw tawon mo pada sa fake news nga undangon kuno. Dili kini saad nga ingnon ta empty promise kay kung kami mosaad ni gov amo gyud nang tumanon. Di usab kini fake news,” she said.
For his part, Davide assured that all the cash incentives for the barangay workers will be distributed before the campaign period.
“Di lalim inyong trabaho, sakripisyo kaayo. Bisan pa man niana nalipay kami kay kana inyong serbisyo giisip namo nga extension (of services) sa Provincial Government,” said the governor. “Ang financial status sa probinsya maayo man. Makahatag gayud kitag ayuda sa mga barangay.”
Carmen Vice Mayor Martin Gerard Villamor and other town and barangay officials were present during the distribution of cash incentives.
Villamor thanked the Capitol officials for providing the incentives to the village workers of Carmen.
After the cash distribution, Davide and Magpale headed the inauguration of the 3.2-kilometer Cogon-Cantumog-Corte Road in Carmen. The road project, which consisted of two phases, was worth P110 million.
Of this amount, P38.437 million was funded by the Provincial Government, while the rest was through the help of some senators.
Provincial Board (PB) Member Miguel Antonio Magpale joined Davide, Magpale and Villamor during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
In Danao City, there are a total of 1,172 barangay workers who received their cash incentive.
Danao Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III, Vice Mayor Thomas Mark “Mix” Durano and PB Member Jude Thaddeus Durano-Sybico, together with the other city officials and barangay captains, graced the event.
“Sa ngalan sa syudad sa Danao, sa akong kaugalingon akong itunol ang atong mainitong pagdawat sa mga opisyal sa Sugbo. Daghan salamat sa pinaskuhan,” said Mayor Durano.
All BHW, BNS and DCW received P2,400 each, while tanods and lupons each got P1,500.
