College student, farmer found hanging dead
A 25-YEAR-OLD college student and a 59-year-old farmer were found hanging dead in separate incidents in Cebu.
Jeoric Calimpong was found by his relatives suspended from the ceiling of his room in their house in barangay Poblacion, Oslob town, southeast Cebu past 8 a.m. Saturday.
PO2 Noel Mamale of Oslob Police Station said family problems may have driven the man to commit suicide.
Mamale said last Friday night, Calimpong arrived home from a basketball game and threatened to commit suicide, a threat that was not taken seriously.
The next day, the victim’s younger sister went to her brother’s room to invite him for breakfast but was shocked to see him suspended from the ceiling by a rope tied around his neck.
Dr. Christopher Amit, municipal health officer, said the victim had been dead for six hours before he was found.
The family was convinced that there was no foul play in the death, police said.
In barangay Pasol, Alcoy town, a farmer suffering from a nervous breakdown was found dead by his sister inside their house.
Police said Regino Deleon had been complaining that someone was trying to kill him.
According to the victim’s wife, there were times that the victim would suddenly run outside their house saying someone was chasing him.
